Croatia’s EU accession talks to have positive impact on advancement of Euro-Atlantic integration of entire Southeast Europe, says RCC Secretary General

ZAGREB/SARAJEVO – Croatia’s role in promoting cooperation in Southeast Europe and the expected positive impact of the country’s EU accession talks on the European integration prospects of the entire region, were the central themes of the talks between the RCC Secretary General Hido Biscevic and the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Jandrokovic, in Zagreb today.

The RCC Secretary General expressed his firm belief that Croatia would continue with its contribution and support to the region, in view of the strategic goal of the countries in Southeast Europe to join Euro-Atlantic integration.

Secretary General Biscevic informed Minister Jandrokovic of RCC Secretariat’s projects and activities in the areas of economic and social development, energy and infrastructure, justice and home affairs, security cooperation, building human capital and parliamentary cooperation. He drew attention to the upcoming EU multi-beneficiary strategy for Southeast Europe, the important role the RCC plays in identifying the respective project areas, and invited Croatia to take the best advantage of this pre-accession instrument.

Minister Jandrokovic fully supported the work of the RCC Secretariat and pledged his country’s continuous engagement in fostering regional cooperation in Southeast Europe.

The two officials reiterated the necessity to keep up an accelerated pace of reform in the region to ensure its further advancement and development.

Secretary General Biscevic’s visit was part of a series of political consultations with RCC members from Southeast Europe.
