The event is being co-organized by the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Chairmanship-in-Office of Serbia and the RCC Secretariat.

The RCC Secretary General, Hido Biscevic, will present the organization’s Annual Report on regional cooperation in South East Europe 2011-2012 and the RCC Secretariat’s Self-assessment Report on the first year of implementation of the RCC Strategy and Work Programme 2011-2013. The report is expected to be endorsed by the meeting participants, who will also exchange views on developments in regional cooperation in South East Europe within the framework of the RCC and the challenges ahead.

The meeting is also expected to endorse the nomination proposal for the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council.

The RCC Annual Meeting meets at the level of Senior Civil Servants or above. It is open to other countries, international organizations and partners as guests upon request to and/or the initiative of the Secretary General following the consent of the members of the RCC Board.

First Media Law Academy in South East Europe, Zagreb, CroatiaSun, 03 Jun 2012 15:10:00 +0200The academy aims at safeguarding media freedoms and the right to freedom of expression by sharing and learning from the best legal national frameworks and practices in the enforcement of media standards in the region. It is expected to enhance cooperation in the development and the implementation of progressive media legislation in the countries in South East Europe in line with international and European media standards.

The event will gather regional practicing media lawyers, legislators, media representatives, members of media regulators and self-regulatory bodies, and academics.

The project will be jointly implemented by ARTICLE 19: Global Campaign for Free Expression and the European Association of Public Service Media in South East Europe, under the auspices of the Regional Cooperation Council and with support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Conference on Investigative Journalism and Data Protection, Pula, CroatiaTue, 29 May 2012 15:10:00 +0200The conference is a follow-up activity to the conference on public media and security in South East Europe (SEE), held in November 2011 in Croatia. The meeting aims at increasing regional cooperation by using dialogue and exchanges of information, knowledge transfer, views and ideas, with the goal of disseminating international standards related to investigative journalism and data protection and building a more open, transparent and stable environment in South East Europe.

The event is to be co-organized by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat, RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation, European Association of Public Service Media in South East Europe, and Croatian Radio-Television.

First Meeting of the SEE Regional Expert Teams on Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters, Bucharest, RomaniaMon, 28 May 2012 15:10:00 +0200The meeting will underpin the process of implementation of the most relevant regional conclusions and recommendations adopted by the Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs of the South East European (SEE) countries in the Regional Strategic Document 2011-2013.

The event is being co-organized by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat, and Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Open Regional Fund for South East Europe – Legal Reform, with support of the Ministries of Justice of Romania, Slovenia and Serbia.

It will gather heads of the SEE’s central judicial authorities, experts within the ministries of justice, ministries of interior, public prosecutors’ offices and magistrate councils, heads of regional organizations and initiatives in SEE active in the area of justice and home affairs and relevant representatives of the European Union, Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East European Cooperation process (SEECP), Council of Europe, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and Organization for Security and Co-operation Europe (OSCE),  as well as professional associations and international experts.

International Conference on Higher Education: Towards Joint Regional Roadmap in Higher Education Structural Reforms, Petrovac, MontenegroWed, 23 May 2012 15:10:00 +0200The meeting is being organised by the Ministry of Education and Sport of Montenegro, in cooperation with the University of Montenegro and the University of Novi Sad, and under the auspices of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat, the University of Sarajevo, and the University of Zagreb.

The aim of the event is to support higher education structural reform in the Western Balkans, by sharing experiences and exploring possibilities of acceleration of the region's convergence towards European Higher Education Area and EU policy in this field.

It will gather a range of constituencies from the western Balkans and EU, along with international organisations involved in the creation of European Union policy in higher education.

Meeting of RCC Board, Sarajevo, Bosnia and HerzegovinaTue, 15 May 2012 15:10:00 +0200The regular meeting of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Board, second this year, will hear a report by RCC Secretary General Hido Biscevic on the activities of the organization’s Secretariat for the period 6 March - 3 May 2012, information on the planned future activities of the RCC Secretariat and overview of the current status of implementation of the RCC Strategy and Work Programme 2011-2013.

Annual Report of the RCC Secretary General on regional cooperation in South East Europe 2011-2012 will be presented for acceptance to the Board members.

The RCC Board holds three regular meetings per year and is chaired by the RCC Secretary General. The Board provides the RCC with operational guidance and supervision. It consists of those RCC members contributing to the budget of the RCC Secretariat as well as the European Union.

International Girls in ICT Day, Sarajevo, Bosnia and HerzegovinaThu, 26 Apr 2012 15:10:00 +0200The conference will bring together female high school students from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and successful information and communication technologies (ICT) professionals from governments, academia, and private sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, who will share their experiences and insights into the importance of ICT education as a future career choice.

The event is being organized by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat,  United Nations Development Programme, Microsoft, Oracle, Lexmark and One World – Platform for South East Europe Foundation.

International Girls in ICT Day is an initiative launched by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) members with the idea of creating a global environment that will empower and encourage girls and young women to consider careers in the field of information and communication technologies.

10th meeting of Southeast Europe Investment Committee (SEEIC), Sarajevo, Bosnia and HerzegovinaTue, 24 Apr 2012 15:10:00 +0200This is the 10th regular meeting of Southeast Europe Investment Committee (SEEIC), but the first one under the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat and its SEEIC Project umbrella.

The meeting is to present SEEIC scope of work within Europe 2020 Strategy and develop further mechanisms of consolidating and strengthening efforts for regional cooperation in investment and competitiveness related reforms. In cooperation with the European Commission, the meeting will also include a session on programming regional component of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) dedicated to private sector development.

The event is to bring together SEEIC members from the region, national IPA coordinators, as well as representative of international organizations, donor and business community.

Signing of memorandum of understanding between South East European Stock Exchanges, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina Tue, 27 Mar 2012 15:10:00 +0200The signing ceremony of a Platform for Joint Action on capital market integration in South East Europe (SEE) between eight SEE stock exchanges will take place in Sarajevo under the auspices of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat.

The Platform, spearheaded by the RCC and the USAID’s Partners for Financial Stability Program, will provide a basis for more enhanced cooperation in this area, leading to an improvement of access to finance in the region, which is a key prerequisite for private sector growth in South East Europe.

The signatories of the Platform are Stock Exchanges from Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Tirana, Podgorica and Skopje.

Kick-off meeting for project ‘Improving Cooperation in South-East Europe by Actions for Strengthening the Regional Cooperation Council’, Sarajevo, Bosnia and HerzegovinaFri, 16 Mar 2012 15:10:00 +0200The meeting, which will launch the project “Improving Cooperation in South-East Europe by Actions for Strengthening the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC)”, is being organized by the Central European Initiative (CEI) in cooperation with the RCC Secretariat.

The event is to gather RCC partners and regional stakeholders, as well as representatives of the European Commission and main international financial institutions and agencies.

The project is financed by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance – IPA Regional Programme 2010, and will be implemented by CEI with an aim to contribute to the regional cohesion of South East Europe and the EU enlargement process, as well as to support strengthening of the RCC Secretariat.
